Bronwyn  runs a dedicated groundschool in the Winter months covering all the EASA PPL subjects. The classes are conducted over weekends from November to March in the crewroom at the club. All books and notes are provided as part of the groundschool . The groundschool covers all the theory needed to pass the EASA PPL examinations as well as giving students a practical understanding of the subject.

The examination subjects covered are as follows:

  • Air Law
  • Human Performance
  • Meteorology
  • Communications
  • Operational Procedures – Aeroplanes
  • Principles of Flight – Aeroplanes
  • Flight Performance and Planning – Aeroplanes
  • Aircraft General Knowledge – Aeroplanes
  • Navigation – Aeroplanes

The student has 6 sittings to complete all 9 exams. This is taken into account with the calendar for groundschool.

In order to comply with new legislation requirements under EASA, a new PPL theoretical examination syllabus has been introduced by the UK CAA and has taken effect from 1 September 2013. Full details are available from IN-2013/061 and Standards Document 11 (v12). All groundschool and exams are conducted with these guidelines in mind.
